In 2018, the Nigerian entertainment industry and fans saw the rise of some musicians who were formerly not given as much recognition. One of such artistes is Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy.
The Afrofusion singer wowed several Nigerians with back-to-back hit songs and it is safe to say his fan base tripled in no time. He is now regarded as one of the artistes to look out for in 2019.
Recently, an annual music and arts festival, Coachella, recognized Nigerian artistes Mr Eazi and Burna Boy as they are enlisted to perform during the three day event. People all over the country were impressed at this feat because it further stamps the claim that Nigerian music is gradually gaining grounds.
However in a twist of events, one of the listed performers, Burna Boy, took to calling out the show organisers because his name was not written boldly.
In a now deleted post on his Instastory, he advised Coachella to change his name to a bigger font because he is an African giant. He wrote: “I really appreciate you. But I don’t appreciate the way my name is written so small in your bill. I am an AFRICAN GIANT and will not be reduced to whatever that tiny writing means. Fix tings quick please.”
Shortly after he put up the post, several Nigerians trooped to Twitter to call out the star. A large number of them poked fun at him for calling himself an African giant while others felt he was justified for demanding his name should be written boldly.
